Dick’s Drive-In: WSJ

One of the best parts about the job is getting into spots the general public doesn’t usually have access to.  It’s not always glamorous or wild, sometimes it’s just a local staple that offers the opportunity to see behind the curtains. That was the case with this Wall Street Journal story featuring the iconic Dick’s Drive-In.

I was tasked with illustrating a story on how COVID is still echoing through our workforce, directly and indirectly. This story highlights that even at company with industry leading pay and a pretty rad benefits package for the job, it’s still hard to staff at the same level as before the pandemic.

I tried to lean on the traditional, timeless atmosphere of Dick’s, but try not to keep it too peppy given the context.

As always, here’s too big of an edit from that shoot.
